Thanks to ICRTouch for all their hard work to implement this new government scheme.
As everyone is aware the Government announced in July 2020 an ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ scheme for the hospitality industry. ICRTouch gathered information that will help hospitality business owners and customers understand the scheme a little easier. Also, ICRTouch have been working extremely hard on the ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ script to ensure our products can deal with this requirement.
Establishments that are eligible for the scheme.
Eligible establishments are those in which food is sold for immediate on-premises consumption. This could include:
public houses that serve food
restaurants and cafes within tourist attractions, holiday sites and leisure facilities
dining rooms within members’ clubs
workplace and school canteens
Register your establishment for the Eat Out to Help Out
Establishments can offer the scheme all day, every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 3rd to 31st August 2020.
There’s no limit to the number of times customers can use the offer during the period of the scheme, and they don’t need to produce a voucher.
Customers can’t get a discount for someone who is not eating or drinking.
Establishments will be included in an online finder tool for people to use to search for participating establishments.
Alcohol and service charges are excluded from the offer.
To offer a 50% discount on food or non-alcoholic drinks to eat or drink in (up to a maximum of £10 discount per diner).

What we have done to deal with this requirement
The Eat Out to Help Out will allow establishments that have signed up to the scheme to apply the correctly calculated discount to a sale and report on it in line with the government requirements.
This script will only work in August 2020 on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday so you can load it on now without the fear of it being used outside this period. This also means you do not have to rush to remove it after the scheme has ended, it will simply not function.
The script functions when the clerk presses a subtotal key prior to finalisation of a sale (you may wish to add another ST key to the keyboard for this purpose).
