DH Business Services was founded in 1986 by Derek Hume. The original company name was DH Rentals. Derek Hume was a partner in Regent Business Equipment when he saw an opening to supply small cash registers on a rental basis to small local traders. So, DH Rentals was founded, though only as a 'part time' business.

By 1989 DH Rentals was reaching a point were it was taking up valuable space so Derek purchased premises in his local town of Comber, transferred the 'rental' business and renamed it DH Business Services.

In November 2005 Derek's son Allen took over the running of the rental business. His career had started in Engineering, firstly with Bombardier Aerospace Shorts and Learjet. Allen then became a Technical Sales Engineer for a Northern Ireland based engineering company. This gave him the training in Sales and Marketing that he felt was needed before taking on the running of DH Business Services. Allen was quick to increase the rentals customer base and introduce a range of new Epos systems with modern Touch Screen Systems both Stand-Alone and networked, Scanning systems and Weighing Scales.

As the customer numbers increased, the business obtained premises in the 'Old Crow Building' in Comber and also a purpose built showroom, store and training facility in Enkalon Business Park Antrim. (read more here)

With Derek's retirement from Regent Business Equipment, the Comber & Antrim based company are now in a position to supply cash registers, touchscreen systems, networked EPoS systems, wireless systems, cashless systems, tailor-made systems at a budget to suit any business on either a rent, buy or lease basis.
